What gits ya goin?

I've been looking at design websites and blogs recently and have become extremely inspired by the amazing creativity and ingenuity that people have. I believe that we all have those qualities and are absolutely able to create many wonderful things, it's the motivation that people lack. Resources may seem necessary, but many people have done amazing things without having much, so it really isn't much of an excuse. (That being said, it is always nice to daydream about what we may possibly create if resources were endless, ain't it??)

What spawns creative thought? To me, organization, color, beauty, and (this one may be obvious) other creative people. What "spawns" it for you? I love thinking that creativity is this creature that is born through our imagination and jumps out onto the canvas/wall/paper/whateva. There doesn't have to be anything creepy about it (thankyouverymuch). Not trying to say I have a scary monster living in my head. I am saying that there is a force within my creative mind that really can only be satiated by creating. It isn't all that controllable, and it is fierce. Actually, it may be a monster, come to think of it. Oh well. I suppose I should just deal.

First off: Organization! Clutter, to me, cannot inspire design. How can you find the design within the clutter? Obviously, there are times when sifting through the clutter, you find what you need to be inspired. Like searching through a chaotic vintage clothes shop. It is totally worth getting your fingernails dirty so that you can find the gem.

Anyhoo.. When it comes to creating something out of nothing, I prefer organization. That is why I am dreaming of a craft table/space, and have been looking at ways I can make it happen. I came across the picture below and had to pocket it because it is just SO PERFECT and SWEET! A little closet craft station? Are you kidding me?? And it has a chandelier?? Redonkulous.

Secondly, color. Color is the greatest tool. A tool that turns up everything to 11. I don't even know how to describe how inspiring color can be. Just look at this picture. If you walked into a room filled with books all the way to the ceiling you'd be blown away, right? However, if you walked into this room, with the books all arranged by color you would literally fall over. Blown. Literally. Away. I love that this is trendy now, and almost did it the other day, but stopped because I realized it would be close to impossible to find the book i was looking for. At least for a while, until I started to remember what color cover went with what book. Could you imagine how difficult it would be to find a book in this room? Awesomely impossible.

Thirdly, who doesn't love beautiful stuff? Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, so everyone has their own preference with this one. Some major things, that influence me everyday, that I find to be beautiful are nature, laughter and love. I can't write more because it would be impossible to write about everything I find beautiful, and not everything needs to be qualified, right?

Lastly, and quite obviously, when I'm surrounded by creative people, I am inspired. I love when I go to dinner with a friend who is extremely creative and we just talk and talk and talk and ideas and ideas and ideas just POUR out of us like the wine we are drinking in! ;-) There are a ton of people who inspire me, so here are just a few of them...
