After discovering these fabulous wedding blogs (like Ruffled Blog, Green Wedding Shoes and 100 Layer Cake) and viewing all the amazing weddings and ideas, I realized that my wedding can be (1) limited only by the scope of my imagination and (2) extreeeeeeemely fun!
Though most of the stuff written for the wedding blogs I visit, there are some entries that are just for fun. These sites really are more than wedding blogs; they are lifestyle blogs. You like to see pretty things all the time? Visit these blogs. I'm for serious.
So, this morning I was visiting a website called Kiss The Groom, and came across a HILARIOUS entry about a photo shoot being done by Santa Barbara Magazine where a group of 20 women got together and had a Bake Off! There was a price for Best Treat, Best Apron and Best Story (behind the recipe). The food looked amazing and the women looked like they were having a blast (Ding! Idea for a wedding shower! Ding! Ding!), and they all looked so colorful and festive in their colorful, fun aprons. Just fun-tastic times 12.
One of my favorite recipes/stories from the post (also a favorite of the author of the post and blog, Elizabeth Messina, who also photographed the event) was that of the Tequila Christmas Cake. This is quite possibly the best recipe ever written. In fact, it's actually amazing that it was written down!... you'll see why after you read it below!

Tequila Christmas Cake
1 cup of water
1 tsp baking soda
1 cup of sugar
1 tsp salt
1 cup of brown sugar
Lemon juice
4 large eggs
Nuts
1 bottle tequila
2 cups of dried fruit
Sample the tequila to check quality.
To be sure it is of the highest quality, pour one level cup and drink.
Repeat.
Add one cup of butter in a large fluffy bowl.
Add one teaspoon of sugar. Beat again.
At this point it’s best to make sure the tequila is still OK.
Try another cup… just in case.
Turn off the ..mixerer thingy.
Break 2 leggs and add to the bowl and chuck in the cup of dried fruit.
Pick the frigging fruit up off floor.
Mix on the turner.
If the fried druit gets stuck in the beaterers just pry it loose with a drewscriver.
Sample the tequila to check for tonsisticity.
Next, sift two cups of salt. Or something.
Check the tequila. Now shift the lemon juice and strain your nuts.
No wait..shtrain the lemon juice and shift your nuts.
Add one table.
Add a spoon of sugar, or somefink. Whatever you can find.
Greash the oven. Turn the cake tin 360 degrees and try not to fall over.
Don’t forget to beat off the turner.
Finally, throw the bowl through the window.
Finish the tequila and wipe counter with the cat.
Love,
Liz xo
